Star Walk is your personal planetarium that can answer all of your curiosities about the sky! For anyone who is interested in stargazing, amateurs or professionals Star Walk makes discovering more than 9,000 stars, planets, constellations, and messier objects as beautiful and easy as it has never been before!
Use the Star Spotter function to see the sky in front of you in real-time. Tilt your iPhone towards the sky to activate the DIGITAL COMPASS which will determine location and orientation of your phone. The image on your screen will correspond to the area of the sky you are pointing your phone towards, and it will follow your movements. Please note that this function is available on iPhone 3GS/4 devices only.

Star Walk features and how to use them:
DIGITAL COMPASS If you have an iPhone 3GS/4 tilt your phone and the ''Star Spotter'' function will be activated, a live representation of what you see in the sky will appear on your display and the sky will start following your movements right, left, up, and down. This function is not available for iPod Touch users as there is no digital compass inside iPod Touch.
TIME MACHINE: tap the clock icon and scroll the time slider to watch the sky tonight or lets say two years from now. Travel in time and observe night sky on your birthday, be a part of astronomical events like Solar eclipses and meteor showers.
SKY LIVE Window: open up the new window by tapping the moon-shaped button to see moon phases, elevation, and rising data for the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, and Saturn.
PICTURE of the DAY: a push notification will appear on the Star Walk icon to tell you there is a new picture. Tap the right hand corner menu button, select glowing "Picture of the Day" button and a list of pictures will open in front of you. To learn more about the pictures tap the -i- icon on the top right hand corner.
BOOKMARKS: save a reminder of beautiful night sky observations, bookmark it on your iPhone and send it to your friends via e-mail.
VIEW from the EARTH: Automatic and manual selection of locations on a 3D globe.
MOON PHASES: select the SKY LIVE window and see the moon phases for several days. Change dates on the top to see the moon phases for the past or for the future. Or zoom in the image of Moon and scroll the time slider.
Wikipedia LINKS: select one celestial body and tap the - i - icon to activate the magnifier and read main information about it. To know more tap the Wiki icon at the bottom of the table and the Wikipedia page will open up.
SETTINGS: with the settings you can modify user preferences like you can change the screen to night mode, select brightness of the stars (change stars magnitude with a slider), put sounds on or off, switch on or off the constellations images.

Augmented Reality
Pocket Universe was the first iPhone astronomy app to support the built-in compass, and it was also the first to add a true augmented reality view using the iPhone's built-in camera! Use the camera view in the evening or morning sky to overlay the labelled view over the real sky.
Simply hold up your iPhone 3GS in front of you, and the view will be exactly what you see - but with names and information at your fingertips. Move the iPhone around to see the view change in real-time. As previous iPhone models and the iPod Touch do not have a compass, the up/down movement is automatic, but you will need to drag the display left/right yourself.

TeachMe: Kindergarten is an educational iPhone app which teaches four different age appropriate subjects to Kindergarten aged children: sight words, addition, subtraction and spelling. Parents can select which subjects they want, set different difficulty levels, and even choose specific questions. TeachMe: Kindergarten keeps children engaged with a rather unique reward system where children earn a coin for every three correct answers. abc Pocketphonics helps children learn to read by understanding the sounds that letters make.
Why letter sounds (phonics)?
The Congressionally-mandated National Reading Panel concluded that children who have “phonics instruction read better and spell better than other children”.
Letter sounds (how we say letters when we use them in words) are not the same as the letter names (what we call the letters). For instance, sound out slowly to yourself "cat". And you can see that the sounds that make up the word are nothing like what we call the letters.
A child who knows their letter names won't actually find that this helps them to read even simple words like “yes". By contrast, a child who knows their letter sounds will learn to read words they’ve never seen before.
PocketPhonics teaches the letter sounds for the letters in the alphabet. It also teaches over 30 letter sounds that come from combining letters together (like “sh” and “ch”), because they are key to reading so many frequently-used words. Most apps only teach A to Z.
It doesn’t teach letter names at the same time as children are often confused by this.
LETTER WRITING
PocketPhonics visually demonstrates how to write each letter. An obvious thing to do, but quite tricky to program (and you’ll have to look hard to find another iPhone app that does this).
Children enjoy practising their writing by tracing the letter with their finger; with a shake they can erase their old writing and try again.
PocketPhonics checks the accuracy of your child's writing (can be switched off and the tolerance varied - using the Settings option in the app's Parentzone).

If you can't hear the voice/audio, try these steps:
1) make sure the iPhone volume is up to the max
2) If the ringer is on vibrate mode (button in the upper-left corner of iPhone), make sure to take it out of vibrate mode (flip the switch towards you)
3) This app downloads all its sounds using the iPhone's WiFi or 3G data connection. So you need your iPhone to be Internet-connected wirelessly, and run the app for a little while (about 10 seconds on WiFi, or a minute on 3G) until all the sounds load fully. Just connecting it to your PC isn't enough.
